In addition, the hay in the dispenser stays fresh. The dispenser is ideal for all types of roughage such as hay, haylage, pasture grass and straw. It is mounted in a corner where it takes up little space for the horse. The capacity is 300 litres, about 12-20 kg of roughage depending on how much it is pressed. Another benefit is the labour saving, as the wasted roughage would have to be removed from the stable as part of the bedding. The dispenser has 44 holes and slits on the sides. The holes and slits are used to ventilate the hay. In addition, impurities, germs and dust are removed through the holes. The slits also ensure improved hygiene as they prevent the formation of feed residues. The hay dispenser fulfils the requirement for a natural posture of the horse when eating. This ensures normal tooth wear and minimises the risk of respiratory diseases, as the horses eat from above and the harmful dust particles fall out at the bottom. It is best to mount the dispenser at a height that allows the floor under the dispenser to be cleaned with a broom. The distance to the floor should be 10-15 cm.
